Yesterday, Kiomboyo Wa Mwea Nyee Plater’s much-anticipated show, Thee Nyee Festival, took place at Nice Digital City but unfortunately recorded a disappointingly low turnout. Less than twenty people were in attendance, leaving many wondering what went wrong with the event.

Kiomboyo Wa Mwea, popularly known as the Nyee Plater, has built a niche reputation for organising unique culinary experiences that celebrate well cooked testicles . Hailing from Mwea in Kirinyaga County, he rose to fame with his bold approach to Kenyan delicacies like the testicles , often pulling crowds. Over the years, Kiomboyo has become a household name among fans of culinary adventures, especially those curious about the more unusual aspects of Kenyan Nyee cuisine.

This year’s festival, themed around the traditional practice of testicle feasting, promised a combination of entertainment and music. However, the event faced stiff competition, coinciding with two other major shows in Mwea. Popular musicians Samidoh and Waithaka wa Jane were performing at Club Otouch and Quev Sound Station, respectively, attracting many potential attendees.

Despite Kiomboyo’s meticulous planning and well-organised programme, the date clash proved detrimental. Some festival-goers suggested that a postponement could have significantly improved attendance, given the popularity of the competing events.
