An autopsy has revealed that former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo died as a result of severe blunt force trauma, which caused extensive injuries to his chest, abdomen, and spine.

The post-mortem, conducted at Lee Funeral Home, was attended by family pathologist Dr. Joseph Ndung’u and Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor. Police officers were also present during the examination.

Dr. Ndung’u said Jirongo’s body bore multiple injuries, including fractures on the right hand and lower limbs. “There was a crush injury to the chest with multiple rib fractures, perforation of the heart, and rupture of the major vessels connected to the heart, leading to internal bleeding in the chest cavity,” he explained.

The examination also revealed severe injuries to the abdomen and liver, resulting in bleeding into the abdominal cavity, as well as transection of the spinal cord.

“We formed the opinion that he died as a result of crush injuries to the chest and abdomen, and spinal injuries due to blunt force trauma,” Dr. Ndung’u concluded.

The findings confirm that the former legislator sustained extensive trauma prior to his death, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
