The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Kiambu Chapter is encouraging the residents to utilize the free legal consultations offered during the ongoing Legal Awareness Week to have a better understanding of the court processes.

The annual event is basically the idea that aims at empowering the members of the society, especially those who have little knowledge of the law, to be able to handle the justice system on their own when they are faced with legal issues.

At the launch of the event at Kiambu Law Courts, Lady Justice Abigail Mshila, the Presiding Judge of the Kiambu High Court, urged residents to give more information about the difficulties they experience during court proceedings.
She also pointed out that public feedback is very important in filling the gaps in the delivery of justice system.

“We want to hear from you, the clients, the people we serve, about the challenges you face when you try to get justice. Your voices enable us to improve court processes and strengthen trust in the judicial system,” Justice Mshila said.

Legal Awareness Week 2022 is centered on a theme that is related to the ongoing judicial reforms, with the main focus on ensuring that justice is fair, timely, and accessible to both the defendants and the prosecutors.

Through collaborations between the judiciary, the Law Society of Kenya, and other stakeholders in the legal fraternity, residents will be able to access free legal consultations, get court procedures guidance, and be educated on their legal rights and responsibilities.

The LSK Kiambu Chapter has also pointed out that such activities are very instrumental in explaining the justice system to the people and closing the gap between them and legal institutions.

Legal Awareness Week events will be held over the next few days in various courts within the ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌county.
