President William Ruto on Tuesday held a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties.

Ruto met Finnish President Alexander Stubb, with the two leaders agreeing to expand trade and investment while deepening multilateral engagement. They also pledged to advance global and regional peace and security.

“We share a strong commitment to resolving conflicts in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Somalia, recognizing that peace is the cornerstone of growth and shared prosperity,” Ruto said.

The Head of State also held talks with Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, focusing on cooperation in human resource development to enable citizens of both countries to realize their potential.

Ruto further reaffirmed Kenya’s support for reforms at the United Nations, saying they must make the body more effective, inclusive, and responsive to today’s challenges.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi was part of the delegation accompanying the President to the United States.
