Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has appealed to politicians to avoid the practice of premature campaigns and instead utilize the saved time and energy to work on development projects.

The county, as she explained, should not be distracted by the delivery of services and the overall economic growth, while speaking in Kiumbu village, Mwea Constituency, during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new market financed by the national government.

According to her, Kirinyaga is still the center of Mt. Kenya politics, however, she maintained that getting things done should be the main focus of the county rather than engaging in the usual political disputes.

The new market will, thus, be a significant aspect of the local trade whereby residents of Mwea and other neighboring areas will be able to improve their livelihoods.
