New information given about the mysterious disappearance and killing of Brian Odhiambo, a fisherman, has changed the situation significantly, first-hand info that the deceased was found by the KWS officers in a vehicle and was unconscious.
On his stand in the Nakuru Law Court, witness Michael Kiptil Rono mentioned that on January 18th this year, the same day Odhiambo went missing, he was arrested by park officers and taken away in the vehicle where he identified Odhiambo as being at rest and without physical response. Rono on his part confirmed that Odhiambo was motionless in the wild animal service car. His testimony is critical in the ongoing investigation of Odhiambo’s death.
The disappearance of Odhiambo as well as the death of a fisherman have been widely discussed, following Odhiambo’s arrest by Nakuru zoo officers, after which he was reported missing. Investigation has now been launched on his death.
On Tuesday, the court issued new directions that the final testimony shall be taken on the scene with the first handing over to the deputy police officer responsible for the investigation at the site of the incident in Nakuru National Park on November 10, 2025. Owing to the sensitivity of the issue, the judge has narrowed down those permitted access to the location.
The Nakuru County Police Commander must provide strict security during the event. The matter continues to convey issues about the behaviour of wildlife officers and the security of those arrested and detained.
