The government has stepped up its drive to deliver affordable healthcare to every Kenyan, with the Ministry of Health today rolling out the Taifa Care model in Kakamega County.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, who led the activation, said the initiative is part of the wider Universal Health Coverage (UHC) reforms under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

“We are determined to ensure that no Kenyan is left behind. Taifa Care is about bringing health services closer to the people, regardless of where they live or what they earn,” Duale said while addressing health workers and residents in Kakamega.

During the visit, the CS engaged healthcare providers and patients on the operations of the Social Health Authority (SHA) and handed over digital devices to support service delivery in the county.

He was received by Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and accompanied by top ministry officials, including Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr. Ouma Oluga, SHA CEO Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, and Digital Health Agency CEO Eng. Anthony Lenayara.

The Taifa Care model is anchored on digital transformation and grassroots access, with the aim of making healthcare both affordable and equitable across all 47 counties.
