Former Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company ICT Assistant, Lawrence Masinde Barasa, has been convicted of fraudulently acquiring Ksh7,123,963 using a forged academic certificate.

The court found that Barasa illegally obtained the money while serving at the utility company. He was fined Ksh100,000 for the first count of fraudulent acquisition of public property.

Additionally, the court imposed a mandatory penalty of Ksh14,347,926, double the amount he fraudulently acquired, in line with the provisions of the law.
