Investigators have recovered the cockpit voice and flight data recorder from the Amref Flying Doctors aircraft that crashed into a residential area in Mwihoko, Kiambu County, on Thursday, killing two crew members and leaving dozens traumatized.
Almost two days after the horrific Thursday’s crash of the Amref flying doctors’ aircraft on houses in Mwihoko area of Kiambu county, the 24 area residents affected are still traumatized.
Some of them having been left homeless, continue to receive counseling and humanitarian aid from various groups including the Kenya Red Cross and the county government of Kiambu.
The cockpit voice and flight data recorder crucial for the investigations into the cause of the accident, previously reported missing, has been found according to the Aircraft Accident Investigations department and the Amref flying doctors.
The Department’s director Fred Kabunge says the investigations will take at least 12 months to be complete but promised to provide periodic updates on the progress.
