Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened its window of opportunity for P1 and ECDE certificate teachers who wish to level up to diploma.

In a statement released Wednesday, KUCCPS promised that successful candidates are now invited to apply for the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) through a central process.

To qualify, applicants must have a valid Certificate in Primary Teacher Education (P1) or Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE).

“The Ministry of Education has introduced this programme to give P1 and ECDE certificate holders a chance to advance their teaching qualifications,” KUCCPS noted in its announcement.

Interested candidates have been asked to log into the KUCCPS portal via the official website and select a public Teacher Training College (TTC) of their choice.

The intake is set for August, with the goal of improving the quality and professionalism of teaching across the country.

The application window will remain open for two weeks.

KUCCPS has encouraged all eligible teachers to apply early, as available slots at TTCs are limited.

The course will be taught in 33 public Primary Teacher Training Colleges in Kenya.

The entry requirement is a P1 or ECDE certificate by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) and mean grade of C in the KCSE examinations.

Prospective applicants facing challenges during the process may be assisted at Huduma Centres within their area.
