Two-time African Nations Championship (CHAN) winners DR Congo arrived in Nairobi on Thursday ahead of their highly anticipated Group ‘A’ opener against co-hosts Kenya on Sunday afternoon.

The team touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) aboard an Air Tanzania flight, ready to kick off their campaign at a sold-out Kasarani Stadium against the Harambee Stars.

Head coach Otis N’Goma expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness and praised the reception they received upon arrival.

“We’re thrilled by the warm welcome we’ve received here in Nairobi,” said N’Goma. “We had an excellent preparation period in Tanzania, and our players are in top shape and fully focused on the tournament.”

DR Congo, who last lifted the CHAN trophy in 2016 with a dominant 3-0 win over Mali in the final held in Rwanda, are eyeing a third title under N’Goma’s leadership.

The Leopards are drawn in Group ‘A’ alongside hosts Kenya, defending champions Morocco — who were the first team to arrive in Nairobi on Monday — Zambia, and Angola.

Angola are scheduled to arrive later this afternoon ahead of their opening fixture against Morocco, set for Sunday at 6 PM at Nyayo Stadium.
