ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has assured the Mount Kenya region of the government’s unwavering support in driving economic and digital empowerment as part of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
Speaking on Friday during an Economic Empowerment Program in Maragua Constituency, Kabogo said the Kenya Kwanza administration is committed to ensuring grassroots communities have access to resources, opportunities, and digital infrastructure to improve livelihoods.
“This initiative is proof that the government stands firmly with the people of Mount Kenya. Our focus is to empower citizens through financial inclusion and digital connectivity so that every Kenyan can thrive in the modern economy,” Kabogo said.
He revealed that the ICT Ministry is working closely with local leadership to expand digital access and equip youth with essential skills to tap into emerging opportunities.
The event, hosted by Maragua MP Mary Wamaua, brought together dozens of groups and Saccos from across the region.
Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, who graced the function, emphasized the need for continued collaboration between government and communities to achieve inclusive growth.
Other leaders present included National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina, Nominated MPs Sabina Chege and Veronica Maina, Senator Karen Nyamu, and MPs Edwin Mugo (Mathioya), Joseph Cherorot (Kipkelion East), Johana Ng’eno (Emurua Dikirr), Leah Sankaire (Kajiado County), Muthoni Marubu (Lamu County), and Eric Wamumbi (Mathira), among others.
