Chiromo Hospital to Shut Down as Probe into Susan Njoki's Death Deepens

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has ordered the immediate closure of Chiromo Hospital’s Braeside branch, where Toto Touch CEO Susan Njoki tragically lost her life under circumstances now raising serious questions.

In a letter issued Friday, July 25, KMPDC Chief Executive David Kariuki directed the facility to cease all clinical services and evacuate its patients within 24 hours.

The order followed an inspection on July 18 and emerging allegations implicating a hospital staff member in the 35-year-old entrepreneur’s mysterious death.

The council also demanded that the hospital submit Njoki’s full patient records and post-mortem report for further investigation.

“Following further reports indicating the possible involvement of a member of your staff in the death of Susan Kamengere Njoki, the Council issues the following directives effective immediately,” read part of the letter from KMPDC.

Njoki died on July 15, just one day after she was reportedly abducted from her home in Kileleshwa and injected with unknown substances by individuals allegedly acting on instructions from her husband.

Audio recordings she managed to send before her death paint a disturbing picture. In the voice notes, Njoki described how four people stormed into her home two men held her down while two individuals, believed to be nurses, injected her against her will. She pleaded for answers, asking where they were taking her. No one responded.

A post-mortem conducted by a team of six pathologists concluded that Njoki died from manual strangulation. They found clear evidence of pressure to her neck, which cut off oxygen to her brain and ultimately caused her death.

The staff also noticed that she had eaten a meal before she passed away, contrary to preliminary reports that she could have died while heading to the hospital.

The autopsy report now points the hospital not only as the place she spent her last few hours, but perhaps as the center of a larger, disturbing series of events.
Investigations are ongoing.
