Co-operative Bank of Kenya has responded to a viral social media incident involving a woman identified as Ms. Mueni, who was captured making concerning public statements outside one of the bank’s branches.

In an official statement, the bank described the posts as “inappropriate” and noted that the content suggests the woman may be in need of professional medical care.

The disturbing video shows a woman walking naked through the streets of Nairobi, claiming that Cooperative Bank is allegedly withholding her money amounting to KSh10 billion.

In the clip, the visibly distressed woman can be heard shouting accusations against the bank as stunned onlookers watch. Her actions have sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many calling for mental health support and a thorough investigation into her claims.

“The Bank has noted the inappropriate postings outside one of our branches on social media by a certain lady, Ms. Mueni, who from the various clips on diverse social issues, requires relevant medical assistance,” the statement read.

Co-op Bank added that its internal wellness team is actively engaging a professional medical facility to offer the necessary support. The bank is also working to trace Ms. Mueni’s immediate family or next of kin to help facilitate the medical intervention through the appropriate legal and ethical processes.

The bank emphasized its commitment to handling the matter with compassion and sensitivity.
