Tanzanian rapper Wakazi has set the secular music scene ablaze with the release of his new diss track, Crooked Crown. The track was aimed at Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones. The song has generated buzz online and reactions from fans and sparked debate over rap supremacy in the country.
In the song, Wakazi questions Khaligraph’s authenticity and lyrical prowess. He takes direct shots at Khaligraph’s sense of style and fashion. “Kwanza we Khali ni mkali vipi? Maana hata level ya Scar Mkadinali haufiki. A commercial wanna be, Mzee wa Kutoa Tint.Bado tu Dera, lipstick, Aloe Vera ….”
He also ranks Khaligraph Jones below rapper Scar Mkadinali in terms of his lyrical depth and authenticity. He suggests that Khaligraph has been in the mainstream media for too long and has lost his authenticity.
The diss also delivers a clever punchline in English:“See I don’t need rap beefs, for me to eat in these streets”The track which premiered few hours ago has gained views on Facebook and YouTube. Khaligraph Jones is yet to respond to the diss track.
