Newly appointed Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Erastus Ethekon has vowed to uphold the integrity of Kenya’s electoral processes, pledging loyalty to the people and a steadfast commitment to delivering free, fair, and credible elections.

Speaking during his official assumption of office, Ethekon described his new role as a sacred responsibility to the nation’s democratic values.

“I’m honored to lead IEBC as we begin this journey of service,” he said. “Free, fair, and credible elections are the cornerstone of our democracy. My loyalty is to the people of Kenya, and I assure them, their voices will be heard and will count.”

Ethekon emphasized the importance of strengthening public trust in electoral institutions and processes, saying that a resilient nation can only be built “one election at a time.”
