The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have confirmed the arrest of TikToker and businessman Godfrey Mwasiaga Kakan Maiyo over a video in which he is alleged to have called for violence against police officers and their families.
Godfrey, popularly known as Kakan Maiyo, was arrested in Nairobi at his office at Kimathi House, where he was operating under a company called Leta Peleka Logistics.
A clip circulating online shows three plainclothes officers forcefully pinning Maiyo to a wall in a corridor indoors before taking him away.
Maiyo has several clips referencing recent abductions of protesters and activists amid nationwide demonstrations.
The suspect’s remarks sparked discussion online, with some users supporting his boldness, while others condemned the video as reckless and dangerous in the current political climate.
His arrest comes a day after President William Ruto and senior security officials warned that individuals using digital platforms to spread what they term “terror-like” threats will face legal consequences.
He is currently in custody, undergoing processing, pending arraignment
