President William Ruto has condemned destruction of public and private property witnessed recently during anti-government protests.
Ruto while speaking in Kilimani, Nairobi during the launch of the police affordable housing project he issued stern warning to individuals vandalising or burning properties during protests.
He said such will be immobilised and prosecuted in court.
“Anybody torching and destroying another person’s business should be shot in the feet and taken to the hospital pending court appearance. We want people to do business. Enough is enough.” Ruto said.
Some parts of Kenya witnessed massive destruction and looting during the Saba Saba Day protests on July 7.
More than 170 suspects have been arrested in Nairobi, Central and Easter region.
In Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nairobi and Meru supermarkets were looted and some razed down by goons.
This has left behind a trail of destruction and losses amounting to hundreds of millions.
According to the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, the death toll from the unrest now stands at 31.
