A post-mortem conducted at the Kenyatta National Hospital has confirmed that Boniface Kariuki, the 22-year-old mask vendor who died during the June 25th protests in Nairobi, succumbed to severe head injuries caused by a rubber bullet.

After conducting a post-mortem on the body of Boniface Kariuki on Thursday, family pathologist Peter Ndegwa, who announced the results, said four bullet fragments were found in his brain, adding that his survival chances were minimal due to excessive bleeding.

This as the two police officers linked to the shooting remain in custody for seven more days to allow investigations.

Ndegwa revealed that at least four rubber bullet fragments were found lodged deep in his brain tissues. The Kariuki family announced that his burial ceremony will be conducted on Friday next week in Kangema, Murang’a County.
