Lewa Safari Marathon 2023 women’s champion Mercy Kwambai defender her title in this year’s competition held at the Lewa Conservancy in Isiolo county.
In Men’s category Samson Lemayan was crowned the winner of the 25th edition.
Kwambai clocked 2:47:17 to win the 42km race followed Evaline Lagat and Monica Watetu respectively.
This was Kwambai’s third time participating in Lewa Marathon. Her first was in 2022, where she finished second in the half marathon.
In 2023 she was crowned the winner but the 2024 competition was not held because of the nationwide Gen Z protests.
Lemayan clocked 2:28:35 followed by John Musee and Joseph Kariuki respectively.
Lewa Safari Marathon 2025 held in Isiolo County.
Lemayan first participated in Lewa Marathon in 2018.
Michael Kamau won the 21km men’s category with a time of 1:06:37 followed by Justine Lelitan and Simon Saidimu respectively.
In the 21km women’s category, Mary Waithera clocked 1:18:27 to win followed by Pauline Ngigi and Susan Wanjiru respectively.
This year’s marathon attracted over 1,400 participants, both local and international.
Samson Lemayan won men’s category.
Since its inception, the marathon has raised over $9 million with the funds going to support wildlife conservation.
