Athletics Kenya has issued a final reminder to all athletes hoping to compete at the upcoming national trials for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, stressing the urgent need to comply with anti-doping requirements.
In line with World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules, all prospective Team Kenya athletes must undergo their first no-notice out-of-competition anti-doping test by Saturday, May 24, 2025. The federation warns that missing this deadline will render athletes ineligible for selection.
The mandatory testing falls under Rule 15.5.1(c)(ii) of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules, which requires early testing for all athletes seeking international competition.
Athletics Kenya is urging athletes to strictly adhere to their submitted whereabouts to ensure successful test attempts, noting that missed or unsuccessful tests may jeopardize their chances of representing the country in Tokyo.
“Failure to complete this process by the stated date will result in automatic disqualification from consideration for the national team,” read the notice from AK.
