Kenya Pipeline women’s volleyball coach, Geoffrey Omondi, has been appointed as the new head coach of the national women’s team, Malkia Strikers.
The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) confirmed the appointment in a statement on Facebook, announcing that Omondi will be assisted by David Muthui of Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and Esther Chepkosgei from Kenya Pipeline.
Prior to his new role with Malkia Strikers, Omondi served as the head coach of Trailblazers Volleyball Club.
He took over as head coach of Kenya Pipeline in November of the previous year, succeeding Chepkosgei, who had been in an interim capacity.
A former player for the Wafalme Stars, Omondi has also held the position of assistant coach for the national Under-18 boys’ team.
Under his leadership at Kenya Pipeline, the team has enjoyed an undefeated run in the national women’s league.
Earlier this month, he guided Kenya Pipeline to the finals of the CAVB Zone V Championships in Uganda, where they narrowly lost to Rwanda’s APR.
Omondi is currently in Abuja, Nigeria, with Kenya Pipeline, competing in the Africa Club Championships, where they are still in the hunt for the continental title, alongside 23 other teams.
