President William Ruto is currently on a development tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties.

During the second day of the tour, the head of state commissioned the outpatient, surgical, and mother and child units at the Keroka Level IV Hospital.

In his speech, Ruto announced that the government had installed equipment worth KSh 90 million at the new facility “to ensure that the people of Nyamira County get the finest health service”.

The head of state added that in his new Universal Health Coverage programme and placement of equipment, he will work closely with the Nyamira county government to ensure the facility is well-equipped

“I will work closely with the Nyamira county government to ensure that if there is any equipment that is not in the facility, we add it so that the people of Nyamira and Kisii get modern and all the required treatment,” said Ruto.

New Cancer Center in Kisii

He also announced that in Kisii, he had launched a KSh 3.5 billion ultra-modern Kisii County Cancer Treatment Centre that will serve the entire region.

He said the 76-bed facility will help in cancer awareness, prevention, screening, early detection and diagnosis, and provide the latest treatment options, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery.

Ruto said the center will be ready in the following one and a half years.

In other projects launched today, in Sombogo, Kitutu Chache, Ruto broke ground for the tarmacking of 65-Kilometre-long link roads in the area.

He also flagged off materials for the Rural Electrification Project that targets 30,662 households in Kisii county.

The head of state also launched the construction of 350-unit Nyaribari Masaba Affordable Housing Project that he said will employ at least 2,000 youth.

He also launched the tarmacking of Metembe-Ngenyi, Bobaracho-Ititi, Rioma-Nyaore and Marani-Nyakoe roads.
