Comedian YY came out openly to weigh in his clout defending socialite Amber Ray in promoting the Cybercrime (Amendment) Bill, which was tabled to criminalize online bullying and digital harassment as a serious offense.

Swinging onto social media, YY seconded Amber Ray’s opinion that online bullies ought to be imprisoned for their use of the internet to ridicule others.

“Bullies belong in prison! You lot use freedom of speech as freedom to destroy others. It’s time the law took account of people’s mental health,” YY posted.

His posts follow just a few days ago when Amber Ray has passionately defended the bill, saying that social media is now too toxic and human beings are behind anonymous accounts posting hate and defamation.

“Cyberbullies have made life so difficult for so many. It’s not silencing opinions it’s about taking accountability. If you spread lies or insults on social media, be ready to face the law,” Amber Ray had stated previously.

The bill, currently out in public discussion, aims to punish more severely online defamation, impersonation, and harassment offences that have multiplied with the development of influencer culture and gossip digital pages.
