President William Ruto has nominated Dorcas Odour for the Attorney General position.
Her nomination for the position, which fell vacant following President Ruto’s reorganisation of the Cabinet, was made public on Tuesday, July 30.
If vetted and approved by the National Assembly, Odour will take over from Justin Muturi, who was nominated as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service.
Oduor is currently serving as Secretary of Public Prosecution at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP).
She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Master of Arts in International Conflict Management from the University of Nairobi (UON).
She also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from UON and a Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law.
She has previously served in various capacities, among them the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution and Head of Economic, International and Emerging Crimes Department still in the ODPP.
She also served as Deputy Chief State Counsel and as a State Counsel in the Department of Public Prosecution at the then Office of the Attorney General.
