National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has mourned the late former Likuyani and Lugari Member of Parliament, Dr. Enoch Kibunguchy, who passed away on Monday, December 23, 2025, while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Eldoret.

In a tribute shared through his official social media platforms, Speaker Wetangula described the late Kibunguchy as a dedicated public servant whose contribution to the nation and his constituents would be remembered with deep respect.

“I have received with profound sorrow the news of the passing of former Likuyani Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Enoch Kibunguchy,” Wetangula said. “He died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Eldoret.”

The Speaker praised Kibunguchy’s diligence during his tenure in the National Assembly, noting that his leadership was marked by humility, compassion, and unwavering service to the people.

“Dr. Kibunguchy was a devoted public servant who distinguished himself both as a medical professional and as a legislator. During his time in Parliament, he was a diligent and principled member who consistently championed development and the welfare of the people of Likuyani,” he added.

Wetangula further lauded the late MP for leveraging his medical background to advance healthcare and improve the lives of his constituents and the wider community.

“His contribution to public life and to the advancement of healthcare and leadership in our region will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude,” the Speaker said.

Dr. Kibunguchy was elected on a FORD Kenya ticket and became the founding Member of Parliament for Likuyani Constituency, serving two consecutive terms between 2013 and 2022. He worked closely with Speaker Wetangula during his time in Parliament.

His tenure ended after he was defeated by Innocent Mugabe in the 2022 General Election. Despite the loss, Kibunguchy had recently declared his intention to make a political comeback, announcing plans to contest the seat under the United Opposition faction.

His death comes barely days after the region lost another prominent political figure, businessman and former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo, who passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
