Kenyan media personality Wangeci Wa Kariuki stunned her fans with a highly personal and emotional revelation shared in response to a trending news report on the Kabus. While addressing the issue, Wangeci defied viral reports, saying, “Am not sure about Kabu’s story, it might be malicious,” before going on to share about her own traumatic childhood experience.

In her blog, Wangeci shared a shocking episode in her life describing how following her mother’s death, her own father allegedly made her an offer of land and cash if she became his “secret wife.” She bravely turned it down, but at what cost.

“He told me nitakua naenda shule bila shopping,” Wangeci reported, and that to her pledge, she went to boarding school for three years without such necessities of shopping. “Niliteseka,” she added, using the Swahili term for “I suffered.”

Despite the pain, Wangeci’s post also showed her faith and resilience. “But God’s promises are Yes and Amen,” she wrote, celebrating how Jesus Christ had wiped her tears. She also announced that she is writing a book about her life to encourage young girls never to fall into the trap of transactional relationships or become slaves to sex for survival.

To never ever be sex slaves for survival. God will take care of us at the right time,” she declared, concluding with a firm affirmation: “Nanotugutonga in the great name of Jesus Christ our Lord and father.”

Her realization has generated strong reactions on social media, with many commending her for her bravery, conviction, and readiness to take her painful history and make it a source to empower others.
