The government has announced that the 2026 Mashujaa Day celebrations will be jointly hosted by Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet and Nandi counties, marking the first time the national event will be co-hosted by three counties.

The celebrations will be held under the theme “Security and Sports” and will include Eldoret, Iten and Kapsabet. Uasin Gishu County will be the main host of the National Festival.

The committee, chaired by Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen, reviewed the coordination work with planning and coordination departments for smooth delivery of the event.

Sporting legacy, security work and tourism development of the region will be put on display through this tri-judge format with encouraging of regional cooperation in hosting of national festival.

Kenyans, government leaders, security agencies, athletes, and many others will come from across the country to recognize and celebrate Kenya’s heroes through the 2026 Mashujaa Day celebrations.

The government has reemphasized its determination to ensure celebrations are well planned, security is of top priority and it embodies the spirit of unity and patriotism of Kenyans.
