Kenyan content creator and actress Trisha Khalid has cautioned Kenyans against allowing social media to influence their expectations of money as the live of content creators’ lives are different from what they see.
“Usipatiwe pressure na watu social media; huku kila mtu hana pesa. Social media watu hawana pesa jamani,” Trisha said.
She suggested people should get a good example of their friends’ financial status by how they spend time together and how they handle expenses.
“Usiwahi kosana na mtu wako just because you’ve seen someone else being treated nicely on social media. People are liars; they just want to show you what they want you to see,” she added.
Social media posts show expensive cars, restaurant dates, expensive holidays, gifts while others display wealth. It also creates expectations of how people should live even though others incomes and responsibilities differ.
Trisha Khalid’s call is people should live by what they have and look to social media influencers and copy their lifestyles, as some struggle financially and in relationships but they try to hide it.
