Police have arrested three suspects linked to a Sh169,000 M-Pesa shop robbery reported in Katangi, Yatta Sub-County, on May 15, 2026.

The arrests followed a coordinated police operation launched after officers received information from members of the public regarding the suspected involvement of the three individuals in the robbery.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), officers from Katangi moved in and arrested one of the suspects, identified as Ben Mutuku, at Katangi Shopping Centre.

Police subsequently extended the operation to Yathui in Mwala Sub-County, where two other suspects, identified as Simon Makau and Samuel Mbolu, were arrested.

The two were reportedly travelling in a white Toyota Corolla, registration number KDU 164G, when police intercepted them.

During the operation, officers also recovered an M-Pesa till phone that had allegedly been stolen during the robbery.

The phone was later positively identified by the M-Pesa attendant as the device taken during the incident.

The three suspects are being held in police custody as officers process them ahead of their arraignment in court.

The vehicle and recovered phone have also been detained as exhibits as investigations into the robbery continue.
