Police in Ruai, have seized 187 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa valued at an estimated Sh5.6 million and arrested three suspects in connection with the narcotics haul.
The operation was carried out from Obama Police Station during a routine foot patrol within the station’s jurisdiction. The officers intercepted two 17-year old Ugandan nationals and conducted a search leading to the discovery of cannabis sativa.
The two offenders were arrested and taken for questioning. As police, the juveniles led them to a house in Ruai where they searched and seized a bigger consignment of the prohibited drug.
A 33-year-old woman known as Susan Omondiwas also picked at the scene and detained together with the two minors.
The three suspects were escorted into lawful custody as investigations continue. Police said the recovered Cannabis Sativa has been secured as an exhibit and is expected to form part of the evidence when the suspects are arraigned in court.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations also asserts its determination to break drug trafficking
networks and dismantling illicit narcotics supply chains.
