Police in Voi have arrested three notorious highway robbers after a well-coordinated surveillance operation along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

The suspects, identified as Joseph Macharia Mwangi, 40, Peter Muchemi Maina, 36, and Agnes Malemba Mshenga, 32, were intercepted at Vacani Resort while traveling in a white Subaru Legacy, registration number KCJ 842Z.

A search of the vehicle uncovered three sets of reflective number plates—KCR 879U, KCA 583L, and KAZ 946L—along with several suspicious items, including jungle uniforms, a kitchen knife, two Maasai swords, and a mechanics kit containing spanners, a jack, pressure pumps, puncture repair tools, brake pads, and house-breaking implements.

The trio, who had reportedly been evading capture for some time, is currently being held at Voi Police Station as officers finalize their case before arraignment.

Authorities have urged motorists and residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as investigations continue.
