British actor Theo James has dismissed speculation linking Meghan Markle to the upcoming third season of the Netflix series, “The Gentleman.”
James described the rumors as nothing than “hot air,” joking if anyone were to join the cast as his love interest, it would be Prince Harry rather than Meghan.
“I think that was mainly a lot of hot air. At the moment, we’re just trying to get as many eyes on season two and then season three will happen soon,” James said.
Rumors had circulated across social media, stating Meghan’s ongoing association with Hollywood and her high-profile departure from royal duties. Fans speculated that her return to acting could come through a surprise role in the crime-drama series.
Some were quick to report that a role had never been offered, during an appearance at the Edinburgh TV Festival, with Netflix’s UK scripted chief, Manda Levin, giving a cryptic answer when was asked about Meghan’s rumored casting: “All bets are off.”
Levin emphasized that if the rumors were true, then the role would be Meghan’s biggest acting project since leaving “Suits” in 2018 to join the royal family.
Theo James added that audiences remain fascinated by stories of rich people and aristocrats behaving badly, where headlines seem larger than life and can’t be true but they end up being true. People are fascinated by the idea of wealth and how wealth can corrupt people.
