Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing quality and affordable healthcare as a foundation for a prosperous and productive nation.

Speaking during the laying of the foundation stone for Khwisero Hospital in Kakamega County, DP Kindiki emphasized the significance of the transition to Taifa Care, a program aimed at increasing the accessibility, affordability, and availability of quality health services for all Kenyans and their dependents.

“We commend the 18.2 million citizens who have already registered with the Social Health Authority (SHA) and urge all Kenyans to enroll themselves and their families. Access to affordable healthcare is a cornerstone of national development,” said Kindiki.

The construction of Khwisero Hospital is part of the government’s broader plan to enhance healthcare infrastructure and ensure equitable access to medical services.

This initiative aligns with the government’s vision to improve public health under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program.

The event was graced by President William Samoei Ruto, who led the ceremony, alongside Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, and other key leaders, including Cabinet Secretaries Dr. Deborah Barasa (Health) and Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and MSMEs Development).

Also present were Kakamega County Governor Dr. Fernandes Barasa, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Members of Parliament, and Kakamega MCAs.
