Tensions are rising within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after the party’s youth wing vowed to challenge the nomination of Harold Kimuge Kipchumba as a nominated Member of Parliament.

The youth league are accusing the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission of disregarding the proposed nominee one John Ketora.

However, in a quick rejoinder, IEBC maintains they followed due procedure in gazetting the name of Kimuge as the party’s nominee.

Even before the dust settles on the Nomination List issued by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC.

The Orange Democratic Movement Youth League are opposing the nomination of Harold Kimuge Kipchumba as nominated MP to replace John Mbadi, who was appointed to Cabinet.

The youth league president, John Ketora, says they are moving to court to block his nomination. They have given the party a week to ensure that what they call injustice is rectified, or they will give directions to the youth under their banner on the next course of action.

In a quick rejoinder, IEBC says it followed due process. In the special Gazette Notice dated July 22, where IEBC Chairman Erustus Ethekon announced that ten special seats had been reallocated following the resignations and passing on of previously nominated members, as well as adjustments to correct inconsistencies in party list nominations submitted during the 2022 General Election.
