In their second week training camp in Spain, Junior Starlets continued shining in friendly matches as they prepare for FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup kicking off this month.
The Starlets beat CF Intercity Femenino 4-1 at the Albir Grounds yesterday, a resounding victory that is a huge motivation to the team.
Valerine Nekesa opened the scoring in the 18th minute after a well-placed pass from Joan Ogola but in the 45th minute, CF Intercity Femenino equalised.
In the second half, Quinter Odiwuor restored the Starlets’ lead with a brilliant solo run down the wing, making it 2-1.
Then in the 86th minute Lorna Faith extended the lead to 3-1 with a stunning top-corner strike and Valencia Joy Angela gave the Starlets the fourth goal.
In their first friendly on September 25, they beat Valencia CF Women 4-1 before drawing 1-1 with Portugal two days later.
Today the team will fly to the Dominican Republic where the world cup contest will take place from October 16 and conclude on November 3.
The Junior Starlets are set to face England on October 18, Korea DPR on October 20, and will conclude their group stage against Mexico on October 24, 2024.
