The acting chief executive of the Social Health Authority (SHA) Elijah Wachira has been suspended.

In an internal memo seen by TUKIO.co.ke, the authority’s board appointed Robert Ingasira as the new acting CEO to fill the position.

The changes are effective immediately.

A source intimate to this publication said Wachira was accused of bungling the NHIF transition to SHA and frustrating the outstanding debt payments to health facilities despite the approval of the same.

As such, Wachira’s actions put the delivery of healthcare services at risk.
