Nairobi’s Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has warned Senator Edwin Sifuna against reconciling with Embakasi East MP Babu Owino amid the growing political differences within Linda Mwananchi.
Mosiria told Sifuna that forgiving Babu could give him another opportunity to undermine his political ambitions.
“The worst mistake you can make is forgiving a traitor,” Mosiria said in a voice note directed at Sifuna.
He went further, invoking the biblical story of Judas Iscariot in his warning.
“Msaliti ni msaliti. Never give a second chance to someone who once betrayed you. Judas will forever remain Judas,” Mosiria wrote in a post shared on Wednesday.
Mosiria also cautioned Sifuna against sharing a table, food or even a car with Babu, arguing that the Embakasi East MP could use any reconciliation to strengthen his own political position.
The remarks come amid an increasingly public disagreement within Linda Mwananchi over the political vehicle to be used ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Babu has been pushing his Mwananchi Party while Sifuna’s allies have backed the Ukombozi People’s Party as the vehicle for his presidential bid.
But despite the disagreement, Babu has repeatedly denied falling out with Sifuna.
Last week, he reaffirmed his support for Sifuna’s presidential ambitions and proposed that the Mwananchi Party and Ukombozi work together under a wider Linda Mwananchi coalition.
“Sifuna ni ndugu yangu; sitamuacha nyuma. We will rally behind him as our candidate,” Babu said.
Mosiria’s warning therefore puts a fresh spotlight on efforts to contain the dispute, with the two camps facing growing pressure to resolve their differences before the 2027 political contest gathers pace.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has also intervened, saying he had spoken separately to Sifuna and Babu and urged them to prevent their supporters from attacking each other.
Gachagua said divisions between the two camps could weaken Linda Mwananchi and asked the leaders to maintain unity.
The latest exchange leaves Sifuna facing a delicate political balancing act as he seeks to maintain the support of Babu while dealing with growing disagreements over the movement’s political structure.
