American actress, singer and model Serayah Ranee McNeill, known for her role as Tiana Brown on the Fox musical drama series “Empire,” has announced the end her engagement and relationship with Joey Badass due to ongoing infidelity.
She shared on her Instagram page about the love, betrayal and choosing oneself to stay true without burdening someone else.
“There comes a point in a woman’s life when choosing herself is no longer an option; it becomes necessary,” Serayah began her statement. “After much thought, I have made the difficult decision to end my engagement and relationship with the father of my child, Joey. I loved deeply, believed wholeheartedly in the life we were building, and wanted nothing more than to protect our family,” Serayah said.
She stated that her intention was not to seek sympathy or retaliate, but to share the truth that many women face: the tendency to question themselves before questioning what is happening right in front of them.
Serayah began dating Joey in 2023 after meeting on a boat during a mutual friend’s birthday party and revealed they were engaged about two years later in July 2025.
Joey has been open about being non-monogamous in the past in 2021, he publicly claimed he is polyamorous, but he declared he was leaving that lifestyle behind after committing to his ex-fiancée.
Despite the pain, Serayah emphasized her respect for the fact that she and Joey share a son, stating that protecting his peace, privacy and relationship with both parents remains a priority.
She further stated she would not discuss intimate details beyond what she has already shared, drawing a boundary between public transparency and private healing.
