President William Ruto has lauded the World Food Programme (WFP) for its unwavering commitment to addressing hunger and malnutrition, especially during times of crisis.
Speaking after a meeting with WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain in New York, President Ruto highlighted the critical role the organization has played in saving lives during emergencies across Kenya.
“The World Food Programme has been a true partner, saving lives in emergencies. Together, we are expanding the school feeding programme to boost enrollment, especially in marginalised parts of Kenya and informal settlements in Nairobi and other urban areas,” said President Ruto.
The expansion of the school feeding programme is aimed at improving both education and nutrition for children in underserved regions, where food insecurity often hampers school attendance.

The initiative will target vulnerable communities in rural and urban settings, focusing on increasing school enrollment and retention rates.

The President emphasized that the collaboration with WFP will play a crucial role in enhancing food security and improving the well-being of Kenyan children.
