President William Ruto has outlined a set of priority areas aimed at unlocking Africa’s economic potential and accelerating transformation across the continent.
In a statement, the Head of State said Africa must focus on large-scale domestic resource mobilisation to drive its development agenda and reduce overreliance on external financing.
He noted that reforming the international financial architecture is also critical in ensuring fair access to development funding for African countries.
“We are clear on what we must achieve to unlock Africa’s vast potential and drive transformation. This includes domestic mobilisation of resources for Africa’s development at scale, reform of the international financial architecture, development of transport, and logistics and connectivity infrastructure,’Ruto said.
President Ruto further emphasized the need to invest in transport, logistics and connectivity infrastructure to strengthen trade and regional integration within Africa.
He also highlighted energy transition and green industrialisation as key drivers of sustainable economic growth and environmental resilience.
In addition, the President underscored the importance of youth skills development, saying it will foster creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and support emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence in driving Africa’s future growth.
Ruto reaffirmed that coordinated action across African nations is necessary to fully realise the continent’s vast economic and development potential.
