President William Ruto has opened the Kenya School of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Moiben Campus in Uasin Gishu County, marking the institution’s first expansion outside Nairobi.
In a statement shared on X on Monday, October 12, 2026, the heaf of state said the campus would focus on training instructors to equip young Kenyans with practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship and other economic opportunities.
The new facility is expected to strengthen technical and vocational education by preparing trainers who will teach students in technical colleges and other training institutions across the country.
The expansion comes as the government seeks to increase access to technical training and prepare young people for opportunities in the labour market.
Ruto said the institution would play a key role in developing the skills, knowledge and competencies required to support employment and self-employment.
He also announced plans to expand the Moiben campus and construct student hostels to accommodate its anticipated growth.
However, the President did not disclose the estimated cost of the proposed expansion or indicate when construction would begin.
Details on the number of instructors the campus can accommodate and the courses to be offered initially were also not provided.
The Moiben campus is expected to complement existing TVET training efforts by increasing opportunities to prepare qualified instructors for Kenya’s growing technical education sector.
