He spoke in Likoni during his coastal region tour where he revealed that the government would authorize the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) to sign a contract for the development project, which is valued at Sh42 billion.
“On Monday, we will give authority to Kenya Ports Authority to sign the contract that is going to see another investment of Sh42 billion in the Mombasa Port as part of its modernisation to benefit the residents and Kenyans at large,” he said.
The modernization initiative is expected to include the expansion of port facilities, upgrading of infrastructure, and the introduction of advanced technology to streamline operations.

President Ruto emphasized the importance of the port in supporting the country’s economic growth, noting that the improved infrastructure would facilitate smoother and more efficient movement of goods, reduce logistical costs, and attract more international trade.
He drummed up support for his newly nominated cabinet members noting that they will deliver to their respective assigned dockets.
He urged Mombasa residents to back the nomination of former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho as the Minister for Mining, Fishing, and Blue Economy.
