Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has shared a deeply moving condolence message following the heartbreaking passing of Nkanu Nnamdi, the son of celebrated author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and her husband, Dr Ivara Esege.
In a statement released with solemn compassion, President Tinubu expressed his profound grief and extended condolences to Chimamanda, her husband, and the entire family during what he described as an unimaginably painful time. Drawing from personal experience, the President acknowledged that no loss compares to the pain of losing a child, noting that such grief cuts deeper than words can express.
“As a parent myself who has suffered the loss of a loved one, no grief is as devastating as losing a child,” the President shared, underscoring the depth of his empathy and solidarity with the family.
President Tinubu also paid tribute to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s immense contribution to literature and culture, describing her as a global literary icon whose work has brought joy, light, and inspiration to countless homes around the world. He prayed that the family would find strength and comfort in faith during this period of mourning.
The message concluded with a reaffirmation of support and prayers for the bereaved family, reflecting a nation’s shared sorrow and respect for one of its most celebrated voices.
