President William Ruto on Sunday promised a raft of development projects for Nyanza, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to boosting the region’s economy.

Speaking at St. Peter’s ACK Cathedral in Siaya County, Ruto announced plans to revive and expand key infrastructure in the fisheries and agriculture sectors.

The Head of State said the government will construct a new pier and fish market in Usenge, as well as another pier at Asembo Bay to enhance trade and create opportunities for local fishermen.

He further revealed plans to unlock the potential of Yala Swamp, particularly the expansive Dominion Farms, which he described as underutilised.

“At Dominion Farms we are going to get a way forward because the work there is suboptimal and we can use the area to produce a lot. We will bring new investments in the farms and Yala Swamp so that we move into the future,” Ruto said.

The President noted that the projects are part of his broader agenda to spur economic transformation across all regions of the country, stressing that Nyanza will not be left behind.
