President William Ruto has reiterated his resolve to transform the country towards prosperity for all, drawing inspiration from the life and values of the late Mzee Isaac Ichung’wa Ngugi, father to Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa.

While speaking at the burial held at Maaya Ihii village, Kikuyu, Kiambu County, the President stated that the 105-year-old was a man whose life and work were full of challenges and yet he grew and prospered, and that was why he connected Mzee Ichung’wa’s life to the government’s programmes aiming at agriculture, and health for all.

“Mzee Ichungwa was brave and always managed to get through difficult times; we should also be brave and loyal in driving our country to prosperity no matter the hardships we face. For him, death is not only a lesson to this family but also to the whole country,” said President Ruto

Friends, family and leaders from across the political divide gathered to celebrate Mzee Ichung’wa’s long and impactful life. MP Kimani Ichung’wa, the son of the late man, spoke his father’s directness, resolution, and daring in the colonial era, adding that those characteristics formed the family way of life.

These two, Senate Chair Amason Kingi and his counterpart in the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula, also spoke of the late father’s merits and high moral standards as attributes that the current generation and the future one should model on.

Mzee Ichung’wa has gone to be with the Lord leaving behind his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
