The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) and the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ) have explored areas of collaboration in electoral preparedness and access to information ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Registrar of Political Parties J.C. Lorionokou and CAJ Commission Secretary/CEO Naisiae Paloshe Tobiko held talks on Monday, August 17, 2026, alongside officials from both institutions.
The engagement brought together members of CAJ’s Technical Advisory Committee on Elections and the ORPP Election Preparedness team. Discussions focused on strengthening institutional coordination, enhancing public awareness and ensuring citizens and other stakeholders receive timely and relevant information on electoral processes.
Lorionokou reaffirmed ORPP’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations under the Access to Information Act, 2016, while strengthening staff capacity to facilitate access to information.
Tobiko said the partnership is important in ensuring citizens can obtain information required for informed participation during the electoral period.
The institutions also discussed engaging political parties on their obligations under the Access to Information Act and supporting them to establish effective systems for receiving and responding to information requests.
The meeting was coordinated by ORPP’s Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Department as part of preparations for the 2027 elections.
