Kiambu Police Commander Michael Nyaga Muchiri has been appointed the new National Police Service (NPS) Spokesperson, replacing Dr. Resila Onyango, in a sweeping reshuffle targeting senior police officers across the country.

Dr. Resila Onyango, who previously served as the NPS Spokesperson, has been transferred to the Diplomatic Police Unit and named the commandant.

Nyaga, who served as the Kiambu police commander, takes on his new role as the public face of the service.

The reshuffle also saw changes in several other key positions.

Coast Regional Police Commander George Sedah has been moved to Nairobi to replace long-serving commander Adamson Bungei, who has been recalled to police headquarters and named the Director of Operations.

Bungei takes over from former Presidential Escort Commander William Yiampoy, whose next assignment remains unclear.

In another significant move, Kwale County Police Commander Ali Nuno has been promoted to Coast Regional Police Commander, replacing Sedah.

Nuno, known for his no-nonsense approach, expressed readiness to tackle challenges in the region, including the growing menace of criminal gangs using crude weapons.
