The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has assured motorists that those who have already updated their vehicle records do not need to go through the process again.

In a clarification issued Wednesday morning, NTSA explained that the recent notice shared on July 29 was only meant for vehicle owners who either haven’t updated their details or entered the wrong information into the system.

This follows confusion among motorists who thought the directive applied to everyone, prompting some to question why they were being asked to repeat a process they had already completed.

“It’s important to be clear about who exactly is required to take action, so that we don’t waste time showing up at your offices unnecessarily,” one motorist commented online. Another added, “The message caused panic you should have addressed only those whose records are incomplete.”

Responding to the feedback, NTSA confirmed that vehicle owners with accurate and up-to-date information in the system do not need to request any further updates.

The agency also reaffirmed that the process of updating is completely free, amidst social media rumors that there may be hidden charges.

NTSA had earlier directed owners of motorcycles and vehicles to verify and update their records, indicating that the move is part of an overall plan to build transparency, eliminate fraud, and have correct vehicle details in the country’s transport system.

In line with this exercise, drivers updating their details are required to produce KRA entry documents, a copy of the original logbook of the vehicle, a copy of ID, and the duty payment receipt.

The Authority said its goal is to make the records system more reliable and efficient for all vehicle and motorcycle owners.
