Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro is set to address the media at 7pm on Monday, August 17, as attention turns to his next political move ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Nyoro is expected to speak at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, with the briefing coming weeks after he promised to reveal his political direction.
In June, the MP asked Kenyans to give him three to four weeks to make his position clear.
“In the next three to four weeks, I’ll give the way forward on which team I’ll decide to move forward with,” Nyoro said.
That period has since passed, leaving his planned address under close scrutiny.
Nyoro has in recent months taken a more critical position on some government policies, particularly the rising cost of living and fuel prices.
In May, he pushed for changes that would bring down the price of fuel, arguing that the high cost was hurting ordinary Kenyans.
His stance has raised questions about his relationship with the Kenya Kwanza administration and whether he will continue working within the ruling camp.
Nyoro was previously regarded as a close ally of President William Ruto and played a prominent role in the 2022 campaign that brought the President to power.
His recent political silence has, however, fuelled speculation about his plans.
A recent report noted that there is no evidence to conclusively show that Nyoro is preparing a presidential campaign or negotiating a political deal.
The MP’s briefing therefore comes at a crucial time as politicians begin positioning themselves for the 2027 contest.
Among the questions likely to dominate the address is whether Nyoro will clarify his position on Ruto, UDA and the emerging political formations.
He could also use the opportunity to explain his position on the country’s economic situation and the policies he believes should guide the next phase of Kenya’s political journey.
For now, Nyoro has only confirmed the media engagement.
Any expectation that he will announce a presidential bid, leave UDA or join the opposition remains speculation until he makes his position known.
All eyes will therefore be on Safari Park Hotel at 7pm as Nyoro finally gets the opportunity to explain the political direction he promised Kenyans weeks ago.
